I have to turn in some paperwork to get an apartment and they want me to bring my social security card. However I have no idea where it is. Is the physical card really necessary? I have my birth certificate, drivers license, and a passport, and I know my social by heart.
Mary M asked:
I have been on social security for many years they have receently sent me a check for 5,400 stating it is for INS what is it?
psychosolodiver asked:
Every time I’m asked for my Social Security Number for something that doesn’t relate to Social Security or taxation, I either refuse to give it or make a number up. Now, I’m fighting with my mortgage loan agent because my credit report has six different Social Security numbers listed and none of them are my real one. He wants a copy of my original SS card to prove my real number, but he can’t explain to me how buying a house ties in with Social Security? On my card it states “not to be used for identification” but that’s what they’re apparently trying to do. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?
Ale asked:
For example, when applying for credit card, you need to show proof of Identification, so how does the thief use your credit card without proof of identification. When applying for employment, I always gave the employer my social security card with identification. So how does he steal your identity with just your social security number w/o your actual social security card and w/o proof of identification?
DB asked:
Somebody called out my social security number and I don’t want to have bad credit because of them. I asked someone and they said I would have to be in the witness protection program but my life isn’t in danger just my credit and credit score. Please have a better solution.
